What are your biggest challenges?

Before I designed this training, I asked over a hundred professionals working with traumatised people: “What are your BIGGEST CHALLENGES?” Their replies were as follows:

  • I need to learn how to mind myself at the same time (I love my job, I want to make a difference but I’m exhausted and burned out.)
  • I need to know how to help someone to recover as safely but as speedily as possible? (I’m not sure that I have the necessary training or experience and I worry that I might not be able to help, or even worse, re-traumatise them.. OR my clients have very limited budgets OR my organisation only funds 6 sessions.)
  • I need to understand what trauma looks like, in the people I am working with, in my clients, my patients or in my workplace. (People often do not realise they are traumatised – they may seek help for a wide range of different symptoms – addictions, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, self-harming, being suicidal, anger – or more commonly they will not seek help at all).
